Hosting and server log files
The website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. STRATO processes data on my behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
Each time a page is requested, the server processes technically necessary data, in particular your IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested file, the amount of data transferred, and information about your browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the pages and to keep the server secure, for example to detect and fend off attacks. The server also reads your browser’s language setting to show you the German or English start page. This information is not stored.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest is the secure and stable operation of the website. According to STRATO, IP addresses are kept in the log files for no more than seven days.
Contact by e-mail
If you send me an e-mail, I process your address and the content of your message in order to reply. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. I delete the message once it has been dealt with, unless there is a legal obligation to keep it.
Links to other websites
This website contains links to LinkedIn, GitHub, Medium, Apple Books, the Kirche für Oberberg and my own apps on anvil.app, among others. Data is only transferred to these providers when you click a link. Their own privacy policies then apply.
Your rights
You have the right to
- access the personal data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
- have incorrect data rectified (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR).
A short e-mail to me is enough. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany, www.ldi.nrw.de.
